Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Salil invented the Satvik Veena. "Satkriti represents Lord Shiva's feminine side. It's the golden, mystical, magical form of Shiva that transcends into positivity. The only instance when he's related to creation is Satkriti," says Salil.
Salil dedicates this album to daughters across the globe, "Women are a creation of Shiva, and no man is complete without a woman. The album renders to very intense ragas, Jog and Kirwani. They exist in every form of music from classical, western, folk, jazz etc, especially Raj Jog which was created by Lord Shiva himself. It's intense, brimming with sincerity, gratitude and dedication…just what daughters are," he beams, reminiscing about his own daughter, also called Satkriti.
Sharing details about his future project, Salil says, "I am soon going to work on my grand project involving my guru (his father), my son and I. I would like to consolidate three generations of music into one album. That will require a great deal of effort, but it is completely worth it." Representing the best of Indian musical lineage, Bhatt doesn't complain but is saddened at the gruesome state of affairs the Indian culture is in. "We're behaving worse than animals. It isn't critical but the cultural structure of the nation is in a vulnerable state," he rues.
